Kuda Hitam are the best established boat company operation from north Bali, with nearly a decade of reliable service and the shortest route from Bali to the Gili Islands. The trip takes just 45mins from Amed to Gili T in optimal sea conditions. NOTE: Amed harbour is only suitable if you are staying in northeast Bali. You can check live seat availability, book, pay and receive immediate confirmed e-tickets for the Kuda Hitam Express boat to Lombok and the Gili Islands on the left of this page.
The Kuda Hitam Express 3 generally makes one daily trip from Amed to all of the Gili Islands and Lombok. In high season (July-August) sometimes an extra crossing is added to the schedule. The crossing time is approx 1hr, dependant on sea conditions and exact destination. Ticket prices include a free pick up/ drop from anywhere inbetween Tulamben, Amed and Tirtagangga. This will be at around 07:30 in the morning for departures to Lombok and the Gilis.
Kuda Hitam are perfect if you are staying in the north of Bali, but for travellers in the south (Kuta, Seminyak, airport etc.) or Ubud (central Bali) it will involve up to a 4 hour drive plus extra charges so we advise using a service departing from the closer harbours of Serangan or Padang Bai. For Amed departures, Pick up/drop off in Candidasa will cost 275,000rp per car for up to 4 pax and is a 45 minute drive, for Ubud, Lovina and Sanur the cost is 500,000rps and its´s about a 2 and a half hour drive. Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Airport : 550.000 idr/car max 5pax, more than 3hrs driving. Munduk is 600,000 idr/car and Pemuteran is 700,000 idr/car. Extra costs for pick up are payable to Kuda Hitam on the day you travel. If you come by taxi then note that checkin time is half an hour before departure time.
The boat will go directly to Gili Trawangan from Amed. From there, the boat will continue to Gili Meno and Gili Air if there are guests to be dropped off or picked up. If no passengers are travelling to these islands the boat will go directly to Lombok (Bangsal) for port authrity clearance before its departure for the return trip to Amed.
Note: If necessary the boat will stop momentarily in Gili Meno, Gili Air and Lombok to pick up and drop off passengers on the way to and from Gili Trawangan.
