Fast boat from Bali to Lombok and the Gilis

NOTE: As of 2017, Gili Ombak Express have ceased regular operation and it is as yet unclear when normal services may resume.

Ombak Gili Express is a relatively new Indonesian owned fast boat company that started operating from Bali to Gili Trawangan and Lombok in early 2014. Their fast boat departure are now operated out of Padang harbour in east Bali. The main difference between Ombak Gili and many of the other fast boat companies is that they leave from Gili Trawangan in the morning and then head back to gili Trawangan in the afternoon.

They also have one of the newest boats meaning everything is in great condition.

Ombak Gili Express departs from Lombok at 10:00 in the morning and heads to Gili Trawangan. Lombok to Gili Trawangan is a very short trip that takes about 15 minutes. In Gili Trawangan they pick up passengers and then depart at 10:30.

The crossing to Padang Bai takes about 1 1/2 hours in normal sea conditions from Gili Trawangan, slightly longer if the weather isn't great, arriving in Padang Bai at 12:00, which is about a 90 minute drive from Kuta area. Returning from Bali to Gili the fast boat then leaves from Padang Bai harbour at 13:00 and often goes directly to Gili Trawangan to drop off passengers before heading back to Lombok. Arrival in Gili Trawangan is 14:30 - 14:45, arrival in Lombok is usually about 30 minutes later.

NOTE: Sometimes the boat will go to Lombok first before Gili T. During high season this boat occasionally makes a second run in the afternoon. See this page for information about the late departure to the Gilis.

All passengers are allowed 25kg of lugguage and a carry on bag, although its not a strict rule.
