Bali to Lombok Fast Boat Operators

All operators on Gilitickets are licensed and vetted. Infants under 2 travel free on all operators, and several offer reduced fares for children. Here is what you need to know about each one.

  • Eka Jaya Fast Ferry: Highly established operator serving Bangsal and Senggigi from Padang Bai and Bangsal from Nusa Dua. Uses large, multi-deck vessels for a much smoother, more stable ride. Air-conditioned, well-organised, and very reliable.

  • Golden Queen Fast Ferry: Departs from Padang Bai to Bangsal. Features an AC cabin, sun deck, and a generous 30kg luggage allowance. A reliable, well-equipped, and comfortable choice for families and budget travellers.

  • Marina Fast Ferry: Runs from Serangan to Bangsal (via Penida and the Gilis). At €25, it is the cheapest option departing from Serangan and uses a large, stable, air-conditioned vessel.

  • Wahana Virendra: Operates brand-new AC boats from Padang Bai to Senggigi. A highly reliable mid-range choice, perfect for travellers heading directly to Lombok's west coast.

  • Wijaya Perkasa: Departs from Padang Bai and Sanur to Bangsal. Offers wide coverage across Bali but is prone to occasional delays and schedule changes. No hotel transfers available; best for flexible plans.

Bali to Lombok Departure Ports

Your choice of port depends on where you stay in Bali.

A cheap boat ticket from Padang Bai can easily be wiped out by an expensive taxi ride from South Bali, so factor in both land and sea costs.

  • Padang Bai to Lombok: Padang Bai is the main departure hub, offering the cheapest tickets, the most operators, and the quickest crossings. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach Senggigi with fares starting from €22.00, and  2h15 to 2h45 hours to reach Bangsal with fares starting from €20.50.
This is the most cost-effective and logical choice if you are staying in Ubud, Candidasa, Amed, or anywhere in Central and East Bali.

  • Sanur to Lombok: Sanur saves you the long drive to Padang Bai from South Bali, but comes with a longer journey, as all boats run indirect routes stopping at Nusa Penida and the Gilis. Travel time is at least 3h10 hours to Bangsal, starting from €21.50, and around 3h30 hours to Senggigi, starting from €24. It is a reasonable option for South Bali travellers on a budget who have flexible schedules and do not mind a longer boat ride.

  • Serangan to Lombok: Serangan is the most convenient southern port for direct, reliable travel and same-day flight connections. Eka Jaya runs a direct 2-hour service to Senggigi starting from €37, while Marina Fast Ferry offers a cheaper, indirect 3-hour route to Bangsal for €25.
This port is perfectly suited for travellers staying in South Bali, like Kuta, Seminyak, or Uluwatu, and those heading to or from Denpasar Airport.

  • Nusa Dua to Lombok: Eka Jaya now operates direct crossings from Nusa Dua Harbour to Bangsal, with two daily departures. The journey takes around 3h45, and all port taxes are included. Tickets start at €42.
This is the most convenient option for guests in Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa, Jimbaran or Uluwatu: the pier is minutes from most resorts in the area, with no long land transfer required.

Lombok Ports

Knowing where you want to arrive in Lombok before you book can save you time and money, since different operators serve different ports.

  • Bangsal: The main fast boat port in north Lombok, right next to the departure point for the Gili Islands. If you are heading to Gili Trawangan, Gili Air or Gili Meno from Lombok, or staying in north Lombok, Bangsal is your port.
It is the cheapest arrival option from all three Bali departure ports.

  • Senggigi: A beachside resort town on the west coast of Lombok with direct access to hotels, restaurants and activities.
More convenient if you are staying in or around Senggigi, and the crossing time from Padang Bai is actually shorter to Senggigi than to Bangsal.
Prices from Padang Bai to Senggigi start at €22.00. Prices from Sanur to Senggigi starts at €24.00, and from Serangan at €37.

Bali to Lombok Travel Tips

  • Know your arrival port before you book: Bangsal and Senggigi are on different sides of north Lombok. Arriving at the wrong one can add an hour or more to your journey once you land.
Decide before booking: Bangsal for north Lombok and the Gili Islands, Senggigi for the west coast resort area.

  • Factor in the full door-to-door cost: the cheapest fast boat leaves from Padang Bai, but if you are staying in Seminyak or Canggu, a taxi to Padang Bai costs €15 to €25 each way. Serangan is considerably closer for south Bali and may work out cheaper overall even if the ticket price is higher.

  • Book your bali to Lombok ticket in advance: boats fill up quickly during July, August, and over Christmas and New Year. Booking your Bali to Lombok ferry in advance locks in your seat and often secures a better price than buying on the day.

  • Choose a morning departure: the Lombok Strait can get choppy in the afternoon, especially between July and September. Morning departures tend to offer a smoother crossing.
If you are prone to seasickness, book the earliest available service.

  • Check whether port fees are included: some operators do not include port fees in the headline ticket price. These are paid at the harbour on departure and typically run to a few euros per person.
Check the Bali and Lombok port fees

  • Pack smart: most operators allow one bag up to 20 to 25kg. Golden Queen is one of the more generous at 30kg. Oversized bags may incur extra charges at the harbour. Check your allowance when booking, particularly if you are travelling with surfboards or large cases.

  • Lombok to Bali: Return Trip. Planning the return leg? Booking a round trip at the same time is often slightly cheaper than two separate one-way tickets.
Check our Lombok to Bali page for return schedules and prices from Bangsal and Senggigi.

Other Ways to Travel from Bali to Lombok

Public ferry from Bali to Lombok

The slowest option, taking around 4 to 6 hours, but also the cheapest by far.

Comfort is basic: the boats are often crowded and the facilities are well below what you get on a fast boat.

The main drawback is that Lembar is a working port in south Lombok, a long taxi ride from Senggigi, Bangsal or most tourist areas. Worth considering only if your budget is very tight and you have time to spare.

Bali to Lombok Flights

Direct flights from Denpasar (DPS) to Lombok International Airport (LOP) exist and take around 25 minutes in the air.

They are more expensive than the fast boat and only make sense if you are already at the airport, travelling with a lot of luggage or have onward travel that requires you to arrive on the east side of Lombok.

For most travellers, the fast boat is the better choice: cheaper, no airport hassle, and it drops you directly at the harbour closest to where you are going.
