  • SemayaOne: Most affordable (€17.50 to Padang Bai / €20.50 to Sanur). Best for strict budgets, but leave a time buffer as schedules can vary.

  • Golden Queen Fast Ferry: Runs daily to Padang Bai. Features AC and a generous 30kg luggage allowance. Great for travellers heading to Ubud or East Bali.

  • Wijaya Perkasa: Sails to Padang Bai and Sanur. Prone to occasional delays, so book an early slot if you are on a tight schedule.

Gili Trawangan to Bali Arrival Ports

On the way to Gili T, most people pick their departure port based on where they are staying in Bali. On the way back, the calculation is different: it is about where you are going next, and how much time you have to get there.
The arrival port has a bigger impact on your total journey time than the crossing itself.

  • Gili Trawangan to Padang Bai: Cheapest, and Fastest to East Bali.
Padang Bai is the cheapest arrival point on the Gili Trawangan to Bali ferry, with tickets from €17.50 and a crossing time of around 1h30.
It is a straightforward choice if you are heading to Ubud (around 1 to 1.5 hours by car), Candidasa, Amed or anywhere in east or central Bali.
If your destination is Seminyak, Kuta or the airport, however, factor in an additional 2 to 2.5 hours of road transfer on top of the boat: the savings on the ticket can quickly disappear once you add the taxi fare.

  • Gili Trawangan to Sanur: The Practical Middle Ground for South Bali.
The Gili T to Bali boat via Sanur takes around 2h45 and drops you in the middle of south Bali, within easy reach of Kuta, Seminyak, Denpasar and the airport.
    Tickets start from €20.50.
It is a reasonable compromise: a longer crossing than Padang Bai, but a much shorter transfer to most south Bali destinations once you land. If you are staying in or around Kuta, Sanur is usually the right call.

  • Gili Trawangan to Serangan: Best for Bali Airport Connections.
Serangan is the strategic pick for anyone catching a flight from Bali.
The crossing takes around 3h30, but the boat arrives around 12:30 and the toll road puts you at Ngurah Rai Airport in under an hour.
For flights departing 17:00 or later, this is the most reliable routing. Marina Fast Ferry and Eka Jaya both use Serangan, and tickets start from €25.
The airport connection advantage makes the price difference over Padang Bai easy to justify.

Gili T to Bali Travel Tips

A few things worth knowing before you book. The Gili T to Bali fast boat is a straightforward crossing, but small decisions like which port to arrive at or when to depart can make a real difference to how the rest of your day goes:

  • Work Backwards from Your Flight Time: If you have a flight from Bali, start with the departure time and calculate back through your transfer.
The crossing itself takes 1h30 to 3 hours depending on the arrival port. Add transfer time from port to airport, and give yourself a buffer for check-in.

  • The Arrival Port Matters as Much as the Ticket Price: A cheaper ticket to Padang Bai can cost you more in total once you add the transfer to south Bali or the airport. Sanur and Serangan cost a little more upfront but can save you time and taxi fare if you are heading south.
Pick your port based on the full journey, not just the crossing.

  • Serangan Is the Best Port if You Have a Flight: Marina Fast Ferry arrive at Serangan around 12:30, and the toll road connection to Ngurah Rai Airport is fast.
For flights from 17:00 onwards, this is the most reliable routing from Gili T to Bali.

  • Book in Advance During Peak Season: Morning departures from Gili Trawangan fill up quickly in July, August and over the Christmas and New Year period. Booking your Gili Trawangan to Bali ferry ticket in advance locks in your seat and usually a better price. Do not leave it until the night before during high season.

  • Check Whether Port Taxes Are Included: Most operators on Gilitickets do not include port taxes in the headline ticket price (except Eka Jaya). These are paid on departure.
Check the Gili Trawangan and Bali port taxes.

  • Morning Boats Are Usually Calmer: Seas around the Gili Islands tend to be gentler in the early morning. If you are prone to motion sickness, choose the earliest available departure. Conditions can pick up in the afternoon.

Other Ways to Get from Gili T to Bali

For most travellers, the fast boat is the obvious and practical option. Here is a brief overview of the alternatives.

Gili Trawangan to Bali Public Ferry

The public ferry option involves several stages: a local boat from Gili Trawangan to Bangsal Harbour, a road transfer of around 90 to 120 minutes from Bangsal to Lembar Harbour, and then the ASDP public ferry from Lembar to Padang Bai, which takes around 5-6 hours.
The public ferry operates through the day and night, but the total journey from Gili T to Padang Bai can easily reach 10 hours or more.
Facilities on board are basic, and luggage handling is less organised than on fast boats. That said, if fast boats are cancelled due to rough sea conditions, the public ferry may be the only way to get back to Bali.

Gili Trawangan to Bali Flight

There are no direct flights from Gili Trawangan. To fly, you would need to take a local boat to Bangsal, transfer by road to Lombok International Airport (around 45 minutes to an hour from Bangsal), fly to Bali (around 30 minutes in the air), and then transfer from Ngurah Rai Airport to your destination.
The overall journey is longer, more expensive and less convenient than taking a fast boat directly.
