Bali to Gili Meno

Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest of the three Gili Islands, sitting between Gili Air and Gili Trawangan off the northwest coast of Lombok. It has no motorised vehicles, very little nightlife, and a fraction of the visitors of its neighbours, which is exactly the point for most people who choose it. Good snorkelling, a small turtle sanctuary and long stretches of near-empty beach are what Gili Meno does best.

Bali to Gili Meno Fast Boat Operators

Every operator on Gilitickets is licensed and has a good safety record.
Here is what to expect from each one on the Bali to Gili Meno route.

  • Eka Jaya Fast Ferry: has been running the Lombok Strait since 1999 and is the most established operator on this route.
Departing from both Padang Bai and Serangan, their larger vessels handle the crossing well even when conditions are not ideal.
On the way to Gili Meno, the boat typically stops at Gili Air first, so you arrive shortly after.
Reliable, well-organised and the strongest all-round choice on this route at the price.

  • Wijaya Perkasa: offers departures to Gili Meno from both Padang Bai and Sanur, making it one of the few options for south Bali travellers who want to skip the long drive east.
The Sanur departure is convenient, but the service can be variable.
Occasional delays and schedule changes are worth factoring in if your timing is tight.

  • Semaya One: often the cheapest fast boat from Bali to Gili Meno, Semaya One departs from Padang Bai and Sanur.
The low price is the main draw. Comfort and punctuality can vary depending on which boat is running that day, as the fleet is mixed.

Bali to Gili Meno Departure Ports

Your departure port affects journey time, ticket price and how much you spend getting to the harbour. Here is a breakdown to help you decide.

  • Padang Bai to Gili Meno: Padang Bai is the best starting point if you are based in east or central Bali.
Tickets start from €19.00, and the crossing takes around 2h. It is about 1h-1h30 by car from Ubud, 1h15-1h45 from Amed and 30 min from Candidasa.
Morning departures between 08:00 and 09:00 get you to Gili Meno, leaving you with most of the day ahead.

  • Sanur to Gili Meno: For travellers staying in Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu, Sanur avoids the long drive to Padang Bai.
The Bali to Gili Meno ferry from Sanur takes around 3h, and tickets start from €23.00.
The slightly higher boat fare is usually offset by the savings on taxi costs and travel time from the south.

  • Serangan to Gili Meno: Serangan is the closest departure point to Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu.
The crossing to Gili Meno takes around 4h, and tickets start from €37. The harbour is quiet, and boarding tends to be straightforward.
The most practical option for travellers on an early morning flight into Denpasar who want to reach the Gili Islands the same day.

  • Getting to Gili Meno from Amed: There are no direct fast boats from Amed to Gili Meno.
The simplest option is to take a car or shuttle to Padang Bai, around 1h15-1h45 away, and catch a morning fast boat from there.

Bali to Gili Meno Travel Tips

  • Some boats do not dock directly at Gili Meno: Some boats do not dock directly at Gili Meno because the harbour is too shallow for larger fast boats. In these cases, the boat will anchor offshore, and passengers are transferred by small local shuttle boats. Sometimes the shuttle comes from another island, usually between Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno. The transfer only takes a few minutes and is standard practice on this route, but it is useful to know in advance, especially if you are travelling with bulky luggage or dive equipment.

  • Gili Meno is quiet, plan accordingly: Gili Meno has far fewer restaurants, shops and ATMs than Gili Trawangan or even Gili Air. There is one ATM on the island, and it is not always reliable. Bring enough cash from Bali to cover your stay, and check that your accommodation has the facilities you need before you book.

  • Work out your full journey cost before booking: the cheapest ticket is not always the cheapest trip. If you are in South Bali, the taxi to Padang Bai can cost more than the savings on the boat. Factor in your transfer cost and pick the port that makes the most sense for where you are staying.

  • Book in advance during peak periods: fast boats fill up quickly in July, August and over the Christmas and New Year period. Booking ahead secures your preferred departure time and often gets you a better price than buying on the day. Gili Meno is a popular destination for couples and honeymooners, so availability on the busiest routes can go quickly.

  • Port taxes are usually paid separately: most operators on this route (except Eka Jaya)  do not include port taxes in the ticket price. You pay these at the harbour on the day of departure. Check the Bali and Gili Air port taxes

  • Morning crossings are generally calmer: the Lombok Strait can get choppy in the afternoon, particularly during the wet season from November to March. If you are prone to motion sickness, choose an early morning departure.

  • Island hopping from Gili Meno: local boats run regularly between all three Gili Islands. Gili Air and Gili Trawangan are both a short ride from Gili Meno, so it is easy to explore the other islands during your stay without needing to book another fast boat from Bali.

  • Return trip Gili Meno to Bali: All operators running the Bali to Gili Meno route also offer the return crossing. Booking a return ticket at the same time as your outbound journey is usually slightly cheaper than two separate one-way tickets.

Bali to Gili Meno Flight

Flying from Bali to Lombok International Airport and then transferring to Bangsal for the local boat to Gili Meno is an option, but the combined cost and travel time rarely beats a direct fast boat from Padang Bai.
